Final community event of the year!
On the 10th December, South Staffordshire Council and partners concluded their roadshow with a drop in event at Bilbrook Village Hall.
Partners welcomed the opportunity to work collaboratively to support residents and highlight the range of local services available.
Councillor Gary Burnett said the event offered a great opportunity for residents to support and meet the local teams working within their community.
Council launches 2025 South Staffordshire Business Survey
South Staffordshire Council is inviting local businesses to take part in the 2025 Business Survey to gain a clearer understanding of the district’s business landscape and ensure support reflects real needs and opportunities.
The survey will help the council build a clearer, more detailed picture of the local economic environment, identify current challenges and opportunities, and inform future decision-making.
It also directly contributes to the council’s Business Partnership pledge – to work closely with business partners and understand the issues and opportunities they face.
By taking part, businesses can help:
- Build a clearer economic picture: Insights help the council and partners respond more effectively to real conditions businesses are experiencing.
- Influence decisions and support: Feedback will shape priorities, business support services, and future investment across the district.
- Highlight specific needs: Whether recruitment, training, market access or other obstacles, businesses can identify key challenges and areas where targeted support is required.
- Access future opportunities: Participation helps ensure businesses are informed about funding, apprenticeships, training, and growth initiatives offered by the council and partner organisations.
- Strengthen the local economy: Collective feedback contributes to a more resilient and thriving business environment for the district.
- Raise business visibility: Engagement can open the door to increased collaboration, networking, and wider recognition.
The council encourages as many businesses as possible to take part. The more responses received, the better the council can understand the needs of the local business community and provide meaningful support that helps enterprises thrive.

| As you layer up to keep warm this winter, why not add an extra layer of reassurance with one of our FREE personal safety alarms.
You can collect your alarm between now and Friday, 20th February 2026, from Codsall Community Hub, Wolverhampton Road, WV8 1PX, from one of our leisure centres or from your local parish council. |
Waste and recycling collections over the festive period
There are changes to waste and recycling collection dates over the festive period, see table below. Your calendar will have more information on your specific collection.
Now that garden waste collections have concluded for the year we will be providing a weekly grey bin collection until Friday, 9th January, 2026.
Green bin collections will restart on Monday, 12th January, 2026.
Please ensure bins are at the kerbside by 7am with lids fully closed.
Residents are reminded not to put batteries and vapes in bins due to the significant health and safety risk they pose when crushed or compacted.
Moderate increase in fly‑tipping reports recorded across district
Fly-tipping reports in November 2025 were slightly higher than the same month last year, with 90 incidents compared to 85. So far this year, 827 incidents have been recorded, up from 722 during the same period in 2024.
Locality Three and Locality Five continue to be the most affected areas, together accounting for around one-third of all fly‑tipping offences. Despite the district-wide increase, reductions have been seen in Localities One, Two and Five.
We are continuing to work closely with our neighbouring authorities to pool resources and share intelligence to target offenders. Our communities are actively helping us identify hotspot locations, and we are using this data to strengthen enforcement, and roll out proactive measures to reduce incidents of fly tipping.
To date this financial year, we have issued 44 Fixed Penalty Notices for environmental offences, with several additional cases currently being investigated or awaiting the commencement of prosecution proceedings.

Change the story this Christmas
Staffordshire Police is urging residents to help ‘Change the Story’ by recognising and challenging unhealthy or abusive behaviour within relationships.
The campaign highlights that abuse can be physical, emotional, psychological, financial or sexual, and stresses that controlling behaviour – such as monitoring a partner’s movements or eroding their confidence is never acceptable.
Children who witness domestic abuse can suffer long-term impacts on mental and physical health. The force encourages anyone concerned about their own behaviour, or that of someone they know, to seek support and take responsibility for positive change.
Help and advice are available for both victims and perpetrators.
