| It’s been another beautiful sunny week across Staffordshire, and it’s great to see people out enjoying everything our county has to offer.
I also want to highlight the real progress we’re making, with our investment in services already delivering results for residents.
In recent months, our highways teams have completed 100% of emergency repairs on time, while more than 9,600 health checks have been carried out to support people’s long-term wellbeing. We’re continuing to help residents into work through our Jobs and Careers Service, alongside supporting local businesses to grow.
It’s encouraging to see more people getting involved in their communities too, with volunteer numbers rising across our libraries, archives and heritage services, and overall customer satisfaction remaining high at 90%.
We’re also making good progress on providing more places for children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, including a new Post-16 centre at Walton Hall Special School opening in September.
The World Cup continues this weekend, with England taking on Norway tomorrow. After a fantastic game in the early hours of Monday morning, when England secured a 3–2 win over Mexico, it’s been great to see people across Staffordshire coming together to support the team.
I hope everyone enjoys the match and, if you’re watching, I’d encourage you to support our brilliant local pubs and venues as they get behind the tournament.
There is more to do, and we continue to face challenges, but we remain focused on delivering for Staffordshire and providing value for money for residents. |
