Job vacancy

Relief Receptionist

As a Relief Receptionist you will be required to undertake general reception duties including receiving admission fees and issue of receipts, assisting the general public with both face to face and telephone enquiries, taking facility bookings and assisting in the control and supervision of the reception area. Providing assistance with the clerical support of the centre and accurate record keeping is also a requirement of this post.

You will have a friendly personality and good telephone manner as well as the ability to work under pressure. Previous relevant work experience* including customer service and cash handling is essential, a knowledge of computerised booking systems, is desirable.

Hours of work:  On a relief basis

Textiles & Fashion Revolution Week
We are shining a spotlight on the impact of textiles on the environment and how we can all play a part in making the fashion industry fairer and more sustainable.
With Fashion Revolution Week (April 22–28) there’s no better time to rethink our relationship with clothing and textiles.

The fashion industry is one of the largest polluters in the world, generating massive amounts of waste and consuming vast resources.

We aim to encourage reducing, reusing, and recycling textiles to help create a more sustainable fashion industry. Instead of contributing to waste, we can extend the life of clothing, support ethical brands, and embrace second-hand fashion.

How to make a difference

1. Reduce – Buy less, choose quality over quantity, and support sustainable brands.
2. Reuse – Donate or swap clothes, shop second-hand, and get creative with upcycling.
3. Recycle –Textiles are unable to go into your recycling bin at home, however, we have clothes recycling banks available around the District find your nearest one here : Recycling Locator App
4. Recover – If clothes are too damaged to wear, repurpose them into cleaning rags or crafts.

Top Tips for Sustainable Fashion

  • Wash clothes at 30°C to save energy and extend garment life.
  • Follow ethical fashion influencers for inspiration.
  • Challenge yourself to a month of no new clothes.

With global efforts pushing for a more sustainable textile industry, Fashion Revolution Week reminds us to ask brands #WhoMadeMyClothes? and demand fairer, more ethical production practices.

The County Council elections are just around the corner, taking place on Thursday, 1st May 2025. Below, you’ll find all the key information you need to ensure your vote is counted and to learn more about the candidates standing in your area.

The deadline has now passed for registering to vote online, and for requesting a postal or proxy vote.

Return your postal vote

Please return your postal vote as soon as possible to ensure it is counted!

If you miss the post, you can hand in your postal vote and/or the postal vote of up to 5 others at the council office between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday to a person authorised to receive postal votes, or at any polling station in the relevant electoral area before 10PM on Thursday, 1st May, 2025. 

You will be provided with a form which you must complete for the postal vote(s) you are handing in to be accepted.
