My South Staffs: New council app now live
We’re excited to announce the launch of our brand-new council app – designed to make accessing local services faster, easier, and more convenient than ever before.
The free, secure, easy-to-use phone app – My South Staffs – allows residents to perform a range of tasks using their mobile phone – from reporting issues such as fly-tipping, planning breaches and antisocial behaviour, through to requesting bulky waste collections, subscribing for green bin collections and more.
My South Staffs also offers residents the ability to upload images and use what3words – meaning should they be out and about and spot litter or fly-tipping, they can simply snap an image, upload it, and identify the exact location of the issue.
Users can register an account with the app – or use an existing MyLogin account, created via the www.sstaffs.gov.uk website – to view their personal council tax and benefits information and review existing enquiries and keep track of progress.
The app can also be used to notify the council of housing issues, log noise complaints and more.
The free app is available to download from Google Play for Android or The App Store for iOS – simply search for ‘My South Staffs’.
With just a few taps, users can:
🌿 Sign up for the garden waste collection service.
🚮 Report community issues: Quickly flag fly-tipping, litter, planning breaches, or antisocial behaviour.
🛠️ Request council services: From planning to housing services.
📍 Use location services: Pinpoint exact locations for faster response times.
📷 Upload photos: Help us see what they can see for quicker resolutions.

Protecting communities through measles vaccination
UKHSA have reported that measles cases continue to rise in England, mainly affecting unvaccinated children.
| Measles is a highly contagious viral infection that begins with cold‑like symptoms, sore red eyes and fever, followed by a blotchy rash spreading across the body.
Complications can include pneumonia, ear infections, diarrhoea and, in rare cases, encephalitis.
Vaccination remains the most effective protection, with two doses of MMR recommended in childhood.
UKHSA emphasises prompt notification of suspected cases due to the risk to vulnerable groups, including infants, pregnant women and immunosuppressed individuals.
High vaccination uptake is essential to prevent further outbreaks.

World Book Day 2026 – Go all in! 📚
World Book Day takes place on Thursday, 5th March, and this year it’s extra special.
As it’s also the National Year of Reading, our libraries are inviting everyone to Go All In and celebrate the joy of reading together.
World Book Day is all about inspiring children to discover the fun and magic of books. Reading for pleasure has a powerful impact on children’s lives – it’s one of the biggest indicators of future happiness and success.
Yet today, only one in three children says they enjoy reading.
By encouraging a love of books, we can help change that – and transform lives.
To mark the day, our libraries will be buzzing with activity, including:
- Promoting brilliant books for all ages
- Hosting fun activities and events
- Dressing up as our favourite book characters (keep an eye out… 👀)
Why not join in?
When you visit, encourage your children to come dressed as their favourite book characters too. We’d love to see their creativity and hear about the stories they love most.
For more information about World Book Day, pop into your local library or visit the World Book Day website at: Get Ready for World Book Day 2026 – World Book Day
