UKHSA warns of growing measles outbreak:
Get vaccinated now
The latest measles case data shows a rise in activity since January 2026, largely driven by an outbreak in North London.
| Between 1st January and 2nd March, 195 laboratory‑confirmed cases were reported in England – an increase of 37 since 26th February.
Of these, 22% were in the West Midlands, mostly in unvaccinated children under five, with Birmingham accounting for most cases.
Measles can cause serious long‑term complications but is easily preventable.
Two doses of the MMRV vaccine give vital protection, and older children and adults who missed out can catch up at any time with the MMR vaccine. |
Health on your doorstep: Free checks and cancer awareness at Wombourne Library
The NHS Cancer Awareness Bus will be visiting Wombourne Library on Friday, 27th March, from 9am to 5pm, offering essential information on spotting the early signs of cancer, along with free health checks delivered by professional clinicians.
| Alongside this, the Everyone Health NHS Health Unit van will also be on hand 9am to 5pm, providing additional health checks, signposting and information.
Why not pop into the library for a cup of tea or coffee for a chat and grab a book while you’re here?
We’ll be highlighting our collection of health and wellbeing books, but remember, reading of any kind is good for you!
You will be able to find both vehicles on the car park outside the library.
