Spring creativity in bloom at our Easter Wreath-Making Workshops
Our Easter wreath-making sessions on 1st and 2nd April at our cemeteries were a huge success.
Both sessions were fully booked, and everyone had a wonderful time.
It was great to see people come together to enjoy the outdoors and learn a new skill in our peaceful surroundings. Using different varieties of willow and beautiful spring flowers, each wreath made was truly special and unique.
| We would like to say a big thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the event such a success, with special thanks to Forest of Mercia CIC for partnering with us to share their enthusiasm and expertise.
We hope everyone left feeling inspired and proud of their creations – we’re already looking forward to our next event with Forest of Mercia CIC in July.

Election update: 2026
This year is what’s known as a fallow year for South Staffordshire District Council, which means there are no scheduled elections taking place on 7th May, 2026.
This is part of our normal local election cycle. We elect all 42 councillors once every four years.
Our next scheduled elections will take place on 6th May, 2027.
You may have seen information online or in the media about elections happening in neighbouring areas, and be wondering why there’s nothing taking place here.
This is completely normal, different councils hold their elections in different years.

The Bilbrook Neighbourhood Plan Group has worked with the community to identify local priorities. This consultation invites residents to comment on the draft plan before formal examination.

Have your say on South Staffordshire’s future
People are being given the chance to have their say on the future of planning in South Staffordshire, in a brand-new digital democracy trial funded by Google.
The Shaping South Staffordshire project, run by South Staffordshire Council and leading think tanks Demos and New Local, is one of the largest digital democracy trials ever undertaken in the UK.
Designed in consultation with world-leading experts in digital democracy, the engagement exercise seeks to provide an insight into the priorities of those who live in, work in, or visit South Staffordshire and how they would like the district to evolve by 2045.
The first phase of the consultation is now live and runs until 3rd May.

Great news for users of the South Staffordshire Railway Walk
We are pleased to share that additional surface improvement works began on 13th April, helping to further enhance this well used route.
| Thanks to funding from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF), contractors will be on site next week to carry out surface improvements.
These works will extend the path from Bridgnorth Road, through to Himley Station Car Park.
The programme is expected to last around one month.
While there may be short, temporary closures on small sections of the walk, users will be able to divert through the adjacent woodland, and every effort will be made to keep disruption to a minimum.
We are excited to see the benefits this investment will bring to the community.
Thank you for your patience while these improvements take place. |
Congratulations to Ms F from Stafford!
| We’re thrilled to announce that Ms F matched four numbers in the South Staffordshire Community Lottery, and has won an amazing £250!
Thank you for supporting a fantastic local cause and helping make a difference in our community.
