Resurfacing works underway on the Railway Walk
South Staffordshire Council is continuing work to improve access and opportunities for active travel on the Railway Walk.
| Funded through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, we are currently resurfacing the Railway Walk from the Bridgnorth Road down to Himley Plantation Car Park.
This builds on last year’s improvements, which saw the path resurfaced through Wombourne from Bratch Lane to Bridgnorth Road. Whilst our contractors are working hard to minimise disruption to site users, there will be some temporary closures of the path whilst work is carried out.
During these periods, visitors will be able to use the adjacent woodland paths to bypass the affected areas.
Works are expected to be completed by mid-May, and we would like to thank residents and visitors for their patience while the improvements are underway. |
Poll card delivery
As part of our preparations for the elections in May 2027, we will be re- introducing the hand delivery of poll cards across South Staffordshire.
Hand delivering poll cards allows us to ensure that essential voting information reaches electors directly and in a timely manner, while maintaining the highest standards of accuracy and accountability.
Each poll card provides voters with key details, including the date of the election, polling station location, and information on how to vote, including postal and proxy options.
We will be looking for people to deliver the poll cards in their own time and will require deliverers late March, early April 2027.
Dates to be confirmed nearer the time.
The cost of delivery will be 35p per poll card plus holiday pay.

New campaign urges young people to vape safely and recycle responsibly
The Office for Product Safety and Standards has launched a new awareness campaign encouraging young people to use and dispose of vapes safely.
Released on 4th March, the campaign highlights the risks linked to improper charging, damaged batteries and throwing vapes in household bins, which can lead to fires, injuries and environmental harm.
It promotes simple steps such as unplugging vapes once charged, storing used devices safely until recycling, removing batteries where possible, and using vape take‑back schemes or dedicated recycling bins in shops and supermarkets.
