Tots treated to water safety visit
Our Leisure Services team visited Pippins Day Care in Codsall for their ‘People who Help Us’ topic.
Bridget Chambers, Swim Academy Co-Ordinator who is also a trained lifeguard and swimming teacher, visited the Day Care Centre, taking some equipment that the children might see in and around pools.
Pippins Day Care shared the following on their Facebook page:
“We were visited by local Lifeguard Bridget who role played water safety with us and learned to turn onto our backs to float in the ‘safe starfish’ position. She pulled us to safety with her rescue float.”
Defibrillator at Codsall Community Hub
We now have a Public Accessible Defibrillator (PAD) located at the Community Hub.
This is a great addition to our building and enables any member of the public who may need to use an AED (defibrillator) to access one locally, rather than waiting for an ambulance to arrive.
The AED and cabinet is located on the Wolverhampton Road side of the building and is visible from the pavement/road. The cabinet is secured to the wall and is connected to a permanent electricity supply. There are security cameras located in the area.
It can only be accessed by those who ring the ambulance service, give the location of the defib (SSDC01) and then a code will be given to the member of the public to open the cabinet. Once the cabinet is open, the AED is ready to be lifted out of the cabinet and taken to the patient by any member of the public or emergency services including ambulance/community responders, police and fire. For instructions on how to use the defibrillator, click here |

It’s in You
Do you want the power to change someone’s life?
The NHS needs you to donate plasma to help save the lives of thousands of people with rare immune diseases, who rely on medicines made from plasma – and amazingly, it’s in you!
You can donate plasma at their Birmingham donor centre, where there are evening and weekend appointments available. Donating is safe and easy, and you’ll feel great afterwards knowing that plasma might be the only thing which could save someone’s life.
Register to donate online at www.blood.co.uk/plasma
Ditch the Blade
Start a conversation to encourage someone to Ditch the Blade
To bring this issue out into the open, we’re encouraging everyone to start a conversation with their family, reinforcing the message that it’s not normal behaviour to carry a knife.
If you have concerns that your child, or another child you know, may be carrying a knife, you can find advice, real life experiences, and links to support organisations on the Ditch the Blade page of the Staffordshire Police website: www.staffordshire.police.uk/ditchtheblade
If you have queries about knife crime, an anonymous Ditch the Blade online chat will be taking place on Wednesday, May 18, from 7pm to 8pm. You can ask a question in advance or on the night by following this link https://app.sli.do/event/62T86GHnuDoJui3zF3wy9q
