Climate Change Consultation 2023
Staffordshire is committed to reducing its carbon footprint.
Annually, an estimated 5.8 million tonnes of carbon are produced in Staffordshire, stemming from transportation (40%), industry (24%), residential homes (23%), commercial activities, agriculture and others (11%). Local authorities are responsible for the remaining 2% of carbon emissions.
In 2022, the councils throughout Staffordshire joined forces and established the Staffordshire Sustainability Board. This board serves as a platform for discussing environmental concerns, deliberating on matters impacting multiple authorities, and determining outcomes for collective projects.
The Sustainability Board recognises the significant influence that local authorities can have over the county’s carbon emissions. They plan to create closer ties with the public, aiming to foster a deeper understanding of individual actions that can contribute to reducing their carbon footprint.
This consultation is run by Staffordshire County Council on behalf of the Staffordshire Sustainability Board. The consultation is a valuable opportunity for you to share your thoughts on Climate Change in Staffordshire and directly contribute to the board’s endeavours.

- keep out of the sun at the hottest time of the day, between 11am and 3pm
- if you are going to do a physical activity (for example, exercise or walking the dog), plan to do these during times of the day when it is cooler such as the morning or evening

Loneliness
Loneliness Awareness Week takes place June 12th-18th.
Loneliness can affect us all, at any time of our lives. We might live in a busy city or a rural location, on our own or with others and still feel isolated.
Understanding our own reasons for feeling lonely and how to manage it can make a big difference to our mental wellbeing and, although it can be difficult to talk about, sharing our feelings of loneliness can encourage others to talk too.
Find out about possible signs of loneliness, reasons we feel lonely and ways to manage it by clicking here: Loneliness – Every Mind Matters – NHS (www.nhs.uk)
