Government funding provides a sustainable and safe upgrade to Perton’s Upper Lake Boardwalk
South Staffordshire Council has completed a major renovation of the popular Upper Lake boardwalk in Perton, a project funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF).
The upgrades included replacing worn boards with sustainably sourced, premium-grade European Redwood, each featuring a smooth profile and two non-slip inserts to improve safety and reduce debris buildup for easier maintenance.
Structural improvements were also made where needed, ensuring the boardwalk will serve the community for years to come.
Councillor Mike Davies said: “We are thrilled to see the Upper Lake boardwalk fully revitalised and open for the community to enjoy. This project exemplifies our commitment to enhancing public spaces, supporting sustainability, and ensuring accessibility for all. We are grateful to the UKSPF for their support, and we look forward to the boardwalk continuing to serve as a valuable community asset.”
