Ever wondered what it takes to run elections in South Staffordshire? 🗳️Â
Curious about what goes on behind the scenes of elections? Â
The council’s Electoral Services team works year-round to keep South Staffordshire’s democratic processes running smoothly – from local parish by-elections to General Elections.
They manage everything from maintaining the electoral register (currently at 87,000 people!) to organising polling stations, training staff, and ensuring the process is seamless, even under the pressure of snap elections. Recently, they’ve adapted to changes like the introduction of voter photo ID and completed a comprehensive Polling District Review.
It’s not just about election days – the team handles year-round tasks like verifying postal votes, updating the register, and ensuring everything is ready for the next election.
Want to get involved? Roles are available for polling day and vote counting, offering an inside look at how it all happens.

NEW! what3words added to Report It Forms for precise location reporting
We’ve added what3words to our Report It forms to help residents report and find precise locations easily.
Exact locations can be hard to describe, especially for places without a street address, such as fields and long country lanes. That’s why we’ve added what3words to our Report It Online Forms – so that you can easily share the exact location of any issues you encounter around the district.
what3words is a simple way to identify precise locations. Every 3 metre square in the world has been given a unique combination of three words. For example, the exact location of front entrance of the Community Hub in Codsall can be found at [///basket.voice.jungle]
what3words addresses are as accurate as GPS coordinates, but easier to communicate and share. It’s the simplest way to communicate a precise location to the council. Learn more about how it works here: https://bit.ly/2zOA46a
