Don’t miss your chance to vote by post:
Apply by April 14th!📮
With the Staffordshire County Council elections just around the corner on Thursday, May 1st, residents are being reminded to apply for a postal vote if they won’t be able to vote in person.
Whether you’re away on polling day, have mobility concerns, or simply prefer the convenience of voting from home, a postal vote ensures your voice is heard in this important local election.
🗳 Key Deadline:
- Apply by: 5pm on Monday, April 14th
You can apply for a postal vote online or by contacting your local district or borough council. Once registered, your ballot paper will be sent directly to your address, and you’ll be able to return it by post at your convenience—no need to visit the polling station.
📬 Already registered to vote? You still need to request a postal vote—it’s not automatic.
📱 Need help or more info? Visit your local council’s website or call their elections team for support with the application process.
Make sure your voice counts—apply for a postal vote before the April 14 deadline and help shape the future of Staffordshire.

South Staffordshire’s Business Partnership – Celebrate Success event: a sold-out success
The first Business Partnership event of the year, Celebrate Success, was a resounding success, bringing together over 100 guests for a morning of reflection, inspiration, and connection.
This sold-out event highlighted the incredible achievements made possible through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, which has played a crucial role in strengthening businesses, organisations, and communities across South Staffordshire over the past two years.
From supporting business growth to funding sustainability initiatives, the impact of this funding has been transformational. Throughout the event, attendees heard inspiring stories from those at the heart of delivering this support, as well as businesses that have directly benefited.
As we look ahead, the event provided a platform to explore future opportunities that will continue to help businesses thrive. More than just a celebration, it was a moment to connect, recognise, and appreciate the dedication and hard work driving South Staffordshire forward.

A tree-mendous gift! 🌲
South Staffordshire Council would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Mrs Susan Marsh of Wombourne, who recently made a generous donation of trees to support the restoration of Wombrook Walk.
Mrs Marsh contacted the council’s Tree Inspector, Darren Allen, offering over a dozen trees she had lovingly grown from seed in her own garden.
Her thoughtful donation comes at a time when many mature trees in the area were sadly lost during the winter storms.
Our Tree Team was pleased to collect and plant the trees in locations along Wombrook Walk where they were most needed. The newly planted trees will help to replenish the local landscape, support wildlife habitats, and offer natural beauty for residents and visitors to enjoy for generations to come.
This act of community spirit is a wonderful example of how residents can make a meaningful contribution to our shared environment. We are incredibly grateful to Mrs Marsh for her generosity and care for the local area.

Be tick aware this Spring and Summer
South Staffordshire Council is supporting the UKHSA’s annual Tick Awareness Campaign, reminding residents to stay safe while enjoying the outdoors.
Ticks can carry infections like Lyme disease and are most active during the warmer months. The campaign encourages people to:
- Stick to paths and avoid tall grass
- Wear long clothing and use insect repellent
- Check for ticks after outdoor activities
- Remove ticks quickly with fine-tipped tweezers
New tick surveillance maps will soon be available on GOV.UK, showing areas where ticks are commonly reported.
