Service spotlight: Commercial, assets and estates
Our small, agile commercial team is responsible for the comprehensive management of property assets across 20 sites in South Staffordshire.
Here, the team explains what their day-to-day roles involves.
This includes oversight of more than 200 commercial leases. Beyond our role as a commercial landlord, we lead on major construction and acquisition projects and are tasked with delivering a 29% increase in income – with an aim of generating £3.85 million per annum over the next five years.
Our responsibilities also encompass delivery of the council’s Asset Management Plan, which includes planned maintenance across the entire estate and strategic investment in 36 car parks.
Our work underpins the long-term sustainability and growth of the council’s property portfolio, ensuring value for money and service excellence across all areas of operation.

Environmental Health inspires future hospitality professionals
| Environmental Health and Licensing have been working with year 10 and 11 students at Great Wyrley Academy to help understand the role of Environmental Health Officers in food inspections.
The students are studying towards a Level 1 Certificate in hospitality and catering.
Two sessions were delivered over May and June with the students in preparation for their exams covering the role of an Environmental Health Officer, the wider role of environmental health and preventing food poisoning. |
